Last December we reintroduced our “Alexa, Thank My Driver” holiday promotion, a way for our customers to show appreciation to the drivers who deliver their Amazon packages during the busy holiday season. The drivers who received the first 2 million thank yous received $5—at no cost to the customer.
The top few drivers who received the most customer thank yous were rewarded with $25,000 and an additional $25,000 paid by Amazon to donate to their charity of choice. Customers can thank their driver via the Alexa feature all year round, and drivers are able to see the number of times they are thanked within their app.
Take a look at some of the amazing drivers who were amongst the winners from this past holiday season and their charities of choice:
Mathew Sanders, delivery driver for Leading Edge Logistix, Temecula, CA
Mathew is a dedicated supporter of wildlife and biodiversity conservation and chose the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) as his charity. “By supporting the WWF, I contribute to their essential work in defending habitats and combating climate change,” he said. His favorite part about being a delivery driver? “The driving—when you are out on the road all day, you’re always experiencing and seeing new things,” he said.
Bree Scott, delivery driver for Troxel Logistics, Fort Wayne, IN
Bree chose Dobie Defenders, an animal welfare organization, for her charity. “I know that this will help Dobie Defenders to be able to make a bigger impact than they already do,” she said. Bree said being a delivery driver has been “a great experience” and she loves delivering during the holidays because she knows she’s helping to make the holiday season better for customers.
Andrew Shearouse, delivery driver for Supreme Veteran Logistics, Cincinnati, OH
For his charity, Andrew chose the One Parent Scholar House in Lexington, KY because he worked with them while he was in college. One Parent Scholar House provides housing and daycare for single parents who are enrolled in college courses. “My mom could have benefited from that kind of program when I was a kid, and I think they could put [the donation money] to good use,” he said. Andrew is grateful for the appreciation he’s received from customers and his team. “Treat your customers like family and they will do the same to you,” he said.
Thank you to all the customers who participated in our 2023 holiday promotion, and of course, the delivery drivers who make magic happen every day for Amazon customers in their communities. Check out the information below to find out how.
FAQs
What is "Alexa, Thank My Driver?"
Since Amazon opened its digital doors in 1994, our selection has vastly grown alongside our ability to deliver packages quickly and conveniently. Delivery drivers are making this happen every day, but it’s more than just the packages that they deliver—they form relationships with customers, provide support to the community in tough moments, and sometimes play the role of the unexpected hero.
We’ve heard many examples of this through social media, emails, and phone calls, and when talking with friends and family. That’s why we developed the “Alexa, Thank My Driver” feature, which allows customers to directly thank drivers for making their deliveries. This feature is available to U.S. customers with an Alexa-enabled device (Echo, Echo Show), the Alexa app, on Amazon.com or in the Amazon mobile shopping app, making it easy to thank drivers in the U.S. anywhere.
How do I thank my driver with “Alexa, Thank My Driver?"
Any time a customer says “Alexa, thank my driver,” or searches “thank my driver” on Amazon.com or on the Amazon shopping app, the driver who completed their most-recent delivery will be notified of the customer’s appreciation. Customers can thank their driver via the feature all year round, and drivers are able to see the number of times they are thanked within their app.
The feature was first introduced during the holidays in 2022. Since then, Amazon customers have thanked their delivery drivers over 22 million times.
Can a customer thank the same delivery driver more than once?
A delivery driver can be thanked once per delivery.
Do I need an Alexa-enabled device to use this feature?
You can access this feature by utilizing the Amazon shopping app or anywhere you shop on Amazon.com. Just type “thank my driver” in the search portal anywhere you shop on Amazon.com.
What drivers qualify?
Only U.S. delivery drivers delivering Amazon packages are eligle to receive “thank yous” through this program. Those drivers include Delivery Service Partner (DSP) Delivery Associates, Amazon Flex delivery partners, and Hub Delivery Associates.
Throughout the years, Amazon has grown and invested in its last-mile delivery network, called Amazon Logistics, to create opportunities for hands-on entrepreneurs wanting to start and grow a business. The program is also available to independent contractors interested in being their own boss and supplementing their income. We remain committed to the people who help provide our customers a seamless delivery service, including Delivery Associates who work for one of Amazon’s DSPs; Amazon Flex delivery partners; and Amazon Hub Delivery Associates. All of those drivers are eligible to be thanked within this feature.
