Today, Amazon introduced Prime Now, the company’s ultra-fast delivery service, to customers in Singapore. The service marks Amazon’s first retail offering in Southeast Asia with tens of thousands of items available via a mobile app for free two-hour delivery.
Customers can shop on the Prime Now app for everything on their list including eggs, cold beer baby strollers and consumer electronics. Also available for ultra-fast delivery include local favorites such as Tiger Balm, Milo, and Mamypoko diapers as well as products from iconic brands including L’Oreal, Pampers, and Samsung. We are excited to create hundreds of job opportunities in Singapore
Our high-end technology enables customers living in Singapore access to a great selection of products shipped in lightning fast speeds. Since day one, Amazon has been building the infrastructure to support ultra-fast delivery for customers around the world. That’s why today’s launch is extra special. Leveraging Amazon’s more than 20 years of technological and operational excellence, Prime Now is launching in a country for the first time without an existing retail presence and fulfillment network. The service will help drive Singapore’s urban logistics, retail and e-commerce industries as well as benefit small and medium enterprises and merchants with direct participation in the advancing digital economy.
Singapore’s dedication to technology and innovation, highly-engaged consumer base and talented workforce is fueling Amazon’s growing presence in the country. We are excited to have hundreds of associates in Singapore.
Singapore’s Minister of Trade and Industry, S. Iswaran, toured our new 100,000 square foot Prime Now hub and spoke about the importance of continued innovation in technology and logistics to the prosperity of the country. Minister Iswaran praised the abundance of talent in Singapore and Amazon is excited to leverage that skilled workforce to bring superfast delivery to customers.
Additionally, Prime Now announced a S$10,000 donation to Lions Befrienders who provides friendship and care for more than 5,000 socially-isolated seniors.
As a native Singaporean, I am incredibly excited that Amazon will be a dynamic technological innovator and job creator in a country known for its inventive efforts in digitizing the retail industry. We are proud to be part of the Singapore community.
